Member Spotlight: Michael F. Bishop
Who Are You?
My name is Michael F. Bishop, and I am a writer, historian, and the former executive director of the International Churchill Society and the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. I have also served in several posts on Capitol Hill and in the White House. I moved to Baltimore--my wife's hometown--in 2023 after more than three decades in Washington, D.C.
My four grandparents were born in Ireland while it was still part of the United Kingdom, and my father was born near the new Irish border eight months after the end of the Civil War.
What do you like about SGSG?
I was invited to attend the 2024 Prince of Wales Brunch by Scott Watkins, who provided a warm welcome to the Society, and I was the Brunch speaker the following year. The Society and its many wonderful events provide fun, fellowship, and intellectual stimulation in elegant surroundings, and I am honored to be a member. I look forward to serving on the Board starting in April.
