Evensong at Grace & St. Peter's

Each spring, as near to St. George's Day (April 23rd) as possible, the St. George's Society of Baltimore hosts a traditional Choral Evensong at the historic Grace & St. Peter's Church in Mount Vernon. This Anglican liturgy, steeped in history and beauty, invites members and guests into a reflective and reverent celebration of the Society's spiritual heritage.

A Timeless Anglican Tradition

Set within the Gothic grandeur of Grace & St. Peter's, Evensong combines scripture, prayer, and sacred music in a candlelit service that uplifts and inspires. Majestic hymns, such as Sir Hubert Parry's "I Was Glad", Herbert Howells: Magnificat from

"Collegium Regale," and Eriks Esenvalds' "This is My Father's World" resonate through the church's soaring nave, performed by organ and choir in a setting that feels both intimate and exalted.

Active Member Participation

In keeping with our values of fellowship and continuity, newly installed members often take part in the liturgy, reading lessons, assisting at the altar, or contributing musically. Their participation underscores the living nature of our traditions and the immediate sense of belonging that defines the Society.
