Member Spotlight: Dr. Jordan Prescott

Who are you?
A North Carolina native, Dr. Jordan Prescott moved to Baltimore in 2017 to pursue a Masters in Music at the Peabody Conservatory. He later earned the Doctor of Musical Arts from Peabody and now teaches on the music theory faculty. In addition to his academic work, Jordan is Organist-Choirmaster at Grace and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Maryland's flagship Anglo-Catholic parish. He lives in historic Mount Vernon with his rambunctious beagle, Dorabella. In his free time, Jordan enjoys plane spotting, roller coasters, and going to the beach.
How did you learn about St. George's Society of Baltimore?
I learned about the St. George's Society through my friend, Daniel, who was President at the time. He and I talked at length about our shared love of Anglicanism and our mutual connections to Mother England. I attended the Prince of Wales Brunch and had a wonderful time getting to know other members of the Society over champagne and pastries. After that, I decided to join the Society and have enjoyed becoming part of this wonderful and welcoming community.
What do you like about SGSB?
I enjoy being in the company of people who, like me, enjoy and appreciate the rich traditions of English culture. Be it at a polo match, beef dinner, cocktail hour, or a service of Choral Evensong, spending time with like-minded people always leaves me energized and feeling more connected to my city and my ancestral homeland. I also appreciate the opportunity to support St. George's Society's philanthropic efforts like the Invictus Games and Help For Heroes, both of which support wounded and disabled veterans.
