Who are you?

Zachary J. Dixon was born and raised in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, where he attended Perkiomen School.  His higher education brought him to Maryland, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Washington College and earned a Master’s Degree in Project Management from Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies.

Over the course of his career, Zachary has used his degrees to consult for local businesses and Fortune 500 companies.  In recent years, he has embarked on a new chapter, pursuing the acquisition and growth of resilient, service-oriented small businesses.  This work reflects his desire to build a lasting legacy while creating a life that allows for more time with his wife and children.

He lives in Baltimore’s Homeland neighborhood with his wife and three children.  His hobbies include sporting clays, tennis, gardening with native plants, studying naturalism, and illustrating.

What do you like about SGSB?

Ease of entry, events, and community are reasons I like St. George’s and why it was the first hereditary society I joined.  The genealogical barrier to entry is much simpler than it is with other hereditary societies.  One only needs a British ancestor to get started.  And that ancestor can be a native of the United Kingdom, her colonies, or the dependent territories of Great Britain.

Events are held in many of Baltimore’s magnificent city and country clubs.  While each is unique and fun, they are also affordable on a family budget.  The Society offers some members-only events but also social events for spouses and children to attend, which is a nice way to spend an afternoon or evening with family and friends.

One can undoubtedly recognize our community’s distinctiveness.  I joined the Society in 2019 and am honored to be serving as its President for the 2024–2026 term.  Our Society stands out among others because, while we are Americans, we share a genuine interest in our British ancestry — a theme that inspires and unites our events.  Our members represent a broad spectrum of professions, from veterans to financiers, lawyers, fundraisers, performers, realtors, designers, business owners, administrators, project managers, and more.

This is a group of real people, relatable, approachable, and eager to enjoy one another’s company.  I am proud to call them friends.  If you share a similar interest, reach out and let us know.  We would love to welcome you.
